The Constitution of Alumni Association
Registered as Society:-
Alumni Association of SSB (hereinafter referred to as the Association) is an independent society of alumni registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The Association shall maintain its registered office at SSB Puttaparthy from this office and other offices, as may be decided by the Board of Directors of Association.
To provide a vibrant forum that promotes interaction and networking among alumni of the Institute
To help alumni achieve their professional and societal goals
To help alumni in their hour of need
To facilitate the association of alumni with their Alma Mater
To contribute to the Institute’s vision of being recognized among the world’s leading institutions in academics, research, outreach, and innovation
To function on charitable basis, and to run the Association on ‘no profit no loss’ basis
To promote best practices in different areas of science, technology, humanities and social sciences for the benefit of the society, especially weaker sections
To create awareness about the Institute and its alumni in the public and
To assist deserving students from the sections of the society financially and otherwise
>The Chairman of SSB shall be the ex-officio Patron of the Association
The Association shall have the following categories of members:-
Regular Member:An alumnus/alumna, who has received or receives a degree/diploma awarded by the SSB and has not paid any subscription for Life Membership, shall be a Regular Member
Life Member: The following shall be a Life Member
An alumnus/alumna, who has received a degree / diploma awarded by the Institute and paid the subscription as prescribed by the Board of Directors of Association for Life Membership, and
Honorary Member: The following shall be an honorary member:
All the past Chairmen of Board of Governors and the Directors of SSB
All retired faculty who have served the Institute for more than ten years
An eminent person honoured by SSB
The Regular and Life Members shall comprise the General Body of the Association
Powerof General Body
He General Body shall be the supreme body of the Association in taking decision on any matter relating to the Association and on all matters brought before them by the Board of Directors of association or by any member of the Association. The General Body shall function in accordance with By-Laws of the Association.
Board of Directors
The Association shall function through its Board of Directors (hereafter referred to as the Board) which shall comprise of the following Elected, Nominated and Ex-Officio members
President:President shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association Vice President-1: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and a resident of India, and Vice President-2: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and a resident of a country other than India Secretary: Secretary shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and also be an employee of SSB. Treasurer: Treasurer shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and also be an employee of SSB. Members: Seven members as follows: Member-1: Shall be Regular or Life Member of the Association with undergraduate degree in any subject from the Institute and a resident of India Member-2: Shall be Regular or Life Member of the Association with undergraduate degree in any subject from the Institute and a resident of a country other than India Member-3:Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association who has obtained Master’s degree in any subject from the Institute and a resident of India. Member-4: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association who has obtained Master’s degree in any subject from SSB and is a resident of a country other than India Member-5: This is reserved for an alumna of SSB . She should be a Regular or Life Member of the Association who has obtained any degree from the Institute and is a resident of any Member-6: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and should have obtained higher degrees in any discipline and is a resident of any country. Member:-7: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and should be President or General Secretary / Secretary of one of the Chapters of the Association in India or abroad. The Chapter should be accredited by the Association
Distinguished Alumnus / Alumna: Shall be a Regular or Life Member of the Association and should have been awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Institute or should be one of the fifty alumni honoured by the Association.The incoming Board of Directors shall nominate this member and his/her term shall be co-terminous with that of the incumbent Board
Term of Board of Directors:-
The term of the Board of Directors shall be two years from the date of assuming office and shall be reconstituted every alternate year.
President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary shall be the office Bearers of the Association
For the purpose of implementing the decisions taken during its tenure, the Board shall be empowered to: 1. create the required administrative infrastructure for the office of the Association at the Institute and/or at other locations, 2. constitute various committees for the purpose of executing its responsibilities more efficiently, and 3. exercise other powers as described in By-laws of the Association
The General Body shall appoint all the Office Bearers and other elected members of the Board through elections, which shall be conducted as per the procedure laid down in the By-laws of the Association.
The Board as well as any member of the General Body may propose amendments to the Constitution or By-Laws, which shall be decided as per procedure given in the By-laws of the Association
